A place to come back to yourself

You were trained to go in.
This is for coming out.

The demands of service do not always end when the work does.

Nervous System & Soul Reset creates time to attend to what remains: the tension you notice, the responses you want to understand, the parts of your life you want to feel more present for. Over six weeks, time with the herd, body-based practice, and community give that attention a place to begin.

The program welcomes first responders—including police, fire, EMS, dispatch, crime-scene investigators and corrections—as well as service members and veterans.

Hūnkapi is a nonprofit farm in Scottsdale. Our name means “we are all related”—a belief we put into practice through our relationships with the horses, the land, and one another.

Attention begins with what you notice.

Somatic Equine Experience.

S.E.E. · Guided experience with horses and the body

Developed at Hūnkapi, S.E.E. brings guided experiences with horses together with body-based awareness. Somatic means relating to the body: your breath, posture, sensations, and the physical responses that accompany emotion.

A facilitator guides your attention to the horse, your surroundings, and your own physical experience. You may notice a held breath, an impulse to step back, or a change in tension as you pause. These observations give you something concrete to explore.

Horses respond to movement, posture, proximity, and behavior as they happen. The horse’s response is something to observe, not a judgment of you.

The aim is not to produce a particular emotion or prove that you are calm. It is to become more familiar with your own responses and explore where you have a choice.

The path ahead

Six weeks
with the herd.

Built in the arena.
Designed for life beyond it.

The core program · Free

Weekly sessions with the herd and somatic practices to take into daily life.

  1. Weeks 1–2

    Arriving

Begin with orienting: taking in the space around you and noticing what is happening in your body. Through time with the herd, practice recognizing your own responses—breath, tension, movement, attention—without having to change them immediately.

  2. Weeks 3–5

    Deepening

Go further into the patterns you begin to recognize, including fight or flight. Guided work with the herd gives you room to notice how a response builds, explore what changes it, and practice responding with more awareness.

  3. Week 6

    Integration

Bring together what you have noticed and practiced. Explore which practices feel useful and how to return to them in everyday life. Consider where a pause, a change in attention, or greater awareness of your body could be useful outside the farm.

  4. The closing gathering

    Farm to Fire Soul Dinner

We close by harmonizing with the herd and gathering around fire and food. It is a shared ending to the six weeks, with time to reflect and connect.

The weeks give the program a structure. They do not set a deadline for how you should feel.
